Mont Marie

This private wine cellar and restaurant is situated on an established wine estate in Stellenbosch.

This contextual building was constructed next to an existing dam, making full use of the reflection of the magical mountain views surrounding the site.

The orientation of the building was carefully planned so once seated, a framed view of table mountain in the distance greets the spectator.

The heavy structure of the wine cellar is submerged in the ground while the restaurant is lightly perched on top and is flooded with natural light.
